During the week of the 4th of July, Oak Island and Southport combine forces to put on one of the most memorable celebrations in the country and certainly the best on the North Carolina coast. Events kick off on the first weekend of July. With live music, food, dancing, contests, vendors, and of course, the grand finale Southport firework display on the 4th. This week on Oak Island is one  you don't want to miss. There are two events full of family-fun activities. One takes place here on Oak Island and the other over in Southport, our sister city. Here is what you need to know. 

Oak Island 4th of July Festival Beach Day 

The N.C. 4th of July Festival Beach Day

 is a full day of activities on Oak Island designed for the whole family. If sand sculpture building, volleyball, skate board, and bocce ball contests sound like fun, then you will really enjoy Beach Day.  But the fun doesn't stop with the contests, there are also evening entertainment and a 

shag contest.

8:00 a.m. - Horseshoe Tournament @ Middleton Park Extension

11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Youth Activities and Contests @ Middleton Park Extension Inflatables, rides, games, and food.

3:00 p.m. -  Sand Sculpture Contests @ Beach side near Cabana -Registration at 11:00a.m.

12:00 p.m. - Corn Hole Tournament & Bocce Ball Tournament @ Beach side near Cabana (Registration at 11:00a.m.)

12:00 p.m. - Volleyball Tournament   @ Beachside near Cabana (Registration at 11:00a.m.)

4:00  p.m. -  Skateboard Competition @ Kevin Bell Skate Park on Oak Island

6:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. - Shag Contest Registration @ Middleton Park Extension

6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - Music by The Holiday Band @ Middleton Park Extension

7:00 p.m. -  Shag Contest Begins when the band goes on break
